Wavelet transform
Performs a Discrete Wavelet transform on an image. This section assumes the reader is
familiar with the theory and uses of wavelet transforms. Good introductions
to wavelets can be found in Starck et al. [8] and Prasad and
Iyengar [9].
Procedure
- Select a wavelet. This is a file such as b4_0.0.wavelet . A
variety of wavelets are installed in /usr/local/lib/wavelets when tnimage is
installed. This step is not necessary for Laplacian wavelet transforms.
- Check that the image number is correct.
- Checking ``Show Grid'' will draw lines demarcating the boundaries of each
wavelet resolution.
- Select algorithm. Currently only ``pyramidal'' and ``Laplacian'' are supported.
- Click ``Forward'' or ``Reverse'' to perform the wavelet transform. The image
is automatically converted to grayscale and resized to the next higher power of
two in each dimension if necessary.
